  • RGB to CGA converter

When an arcade cabinet becomes too stripped of its original components. Restoration can become more work than it’s worth. However, there are great uses for an old cabinet. Converting it into a MAME (Multi-cade) is a worth while project. Raspberry Pi 4B is a good board to use. The output source is HDMI. A CRT Monitor (used in arcade cabinets from the 1980’s through the 1990’s) has an input called CGA (Color Graphics Adaptor). This connects to your monitor via a 9 PIN D-SUB MALE cable with open wires at the monitor side. This adaptor will allow you to connect that new Raspberry Pi4B to your original CGA monitor. Keeping your cabinet looking amazing versus having to use a cheap LCD computer monitor.

Your biggest issue which this solves, is that your horizontal & vertical sync need to be tied together safely.

  • 12 Volt Power Supply

12 Volt 5amp Switching Power Supply

The RGB to CGA converter will require a 12 volt 1.9 amp switching power supply. Pick a higher rated AMP supply and your hardware will use what it needs only. Just do not exceed max amp draw by connecting too many other devices to it. If you need to, upgrade to a higher AMP output versions. If you do not have one in your build already, here is a decent one to work with your Converters.tv box mentioned above.
